The recent passage of Calibornia bill SB 277, which mandates certain vaccines in order for a child to be allowed to attend school, has created quite an uproar among parents concerned about losing individual freedom of choice.
Among those who have spoken out on this topic is Dr. Jay Gordon, a prominent Westside pediatrician, who studied under the late Dr. Paul Fleiss. Dr. Fleiss viewed vaccines as a public health issue, and while he supported parents in delaying certain vaccines, encouraged them to consider vaccinating as an issue concerning not only their own child, but all children.
As emotional as this topic can be for parents, it’s essential that we really educate ourselves on the facts surrounding not only the vaccines themselves, but the viruses they protect against.
