Overcoming a Cold
When it comes to warding off a cold, the sooner you take action the better.  That said, here are some holistic tools that can help at any stage:

1- Rest.  Need I say more?

2- Stay warm

Bundle up–particularly the area between your chest and head. Wearing a scarf and a hat can help increase the core temperature of your body, making it inhospitable to viruses.

Steaming:  prepare a pot of hot water, and hover over it with a towel covering your head to hold in the steam vapors. Pure essential oils like eucalyptus or tea trea oil can be wonderful enhancements.

3-  Eat, drink, and be well
Particularly warm liquids like broth and good quality herbal teas (Traditional Medicinals and Yogi Tea are a few of my favorite brands.
Raw, unfiltered honey, fresh lemon, garlic, ginger, and shiitake mushrooms all help strengthen your immunity.

4-  Try a neti pot
Dissolve ¼ tsp of pure sodium chloride in 1 c water, fill the neti pot.
Tilt your head to one side over a sink and create a seal with the neti pot, so water flows in one nostril and out the other.  Repeat on the other side

5-  Supplement

Thanks for the wonderful suggestion, Nancy. It is definitely my vision to have a forum like this. I’m still working on fixing a few technical glitches on the site as it is, so it may be a while before the forum is up and running. But I really appreciate your input, and for now, please continue to post your comments in the blog. Look forward to chatting with you more here, as well as building a community of women 🙂
