Whether you take it first thing in the morning, as a between-meal snack or an afternoon pick-me-up, there’s nothing like freshly juiced veggies to brighten your energy and give your body a boost. Because it’s raw, all the phytonutrients and enzymes remain intact, and it delivers them straight to your cells along with optimal hydration.
I use a Champion juicer, which is a great brand because it is a “masticating” juicer, meaning it gets the juice out by literally chewing the vegetables, so it results in a high yield of juice and works for greens like kale and parsley. Another brand to look for if you’re purchasing a juicer is ACME, which uses centrifugal motion. It’s great at juicing most fruits and veggies, but not as great if you want to be juicing greens. There are other good juicers as well, just do your research and get one well-suited to the kinds of juice you want to make.
Here’s a recipe for one of my favorites: carrot, celery, beets and ginger. It’s the perfect combo of sweetness, earthiness and zing! And the color is simply gorgeous.
We all know how good the beta carotene in carrots is for skin and eyes, and both beets and celery have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger is particularly good for digestion and because of its warming quality, is good to add to juices during the cooler months.
I hope you enjoy as much as I do, and if you have a favorite juice recipe, please share!
